Chemical peels are exfoliating solutions that are customized for different skin types and incorporate a variety of active ingredients that work to exfoliate dead skin cells and reveal a new layer of skin. ABOUT CHEMICAL PEELS

A chemical peel, also known as chemexfoliation or dermapeeling, uses a chemical solution to improve the appearance of your skin. In this treatment, a chemical solution is applied to your skin, which causes trauma or injury to your skin's layers. The skin layers eventually peel off revealing more youthful skin.

wHAT IT IS A Chemical Peel?

A chemical peel involves applying a chemical solution to your face to remove damaged skin cells and stimulate a fresher, younger looking complexion. When the dull, damaged surface layer of your skin is removed, new healthier cells grow in its place. 

There are a variety of chemical peels that use different types of acids.  Your provider will help you understand the differences and suggest the peel that works best for your skin type and concerns.

how does it Work?

On average, a chemical peel can take between 30-90 minutes, depending on the type of peel and number of layers being applied.  Depending on the strength of your peel, you may feel a warming sensation throughout the application.  You can expect little to no downtime for light peels, while medium and deep peels may require a few weeks to recover.  You should avoid the sun and any active skincare ingredients (Retinol, Vitamin C, etc.) until your skin is fully healed.

  • A light, or superficial, peel produces results that usually last between one and two months. A medium peel's results will last between two and six months.

  • The superficial chemical peels are very safe when used properly but can cause itching, erythema, increased skin sensitivity, epidermolysis, allergic and irritant contact dermatitis, and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH).

  • Who is a good candidate for a chemical peel? You may not be a good candidate for chemical peeling if you have: A history of abnormal skin scarring. A naturally dark complexion or skin tone.

  • If you get a light peel, you typically won't feel much pain, but medium and deep peels penetrate deeper, resulting in a more painful experience.
